This Spanish Sangria recipe is always a hit at my soirees or when I bring it to parties for friends. It’s a perfect punch for casual social gatherings and is sure to be a hit with your friends and family too!
- Red Wine (750 ml bottle): Rioja, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon all work great.
- Brandy (traditionally used) or White Rum (or both!) 1/4 to 1 cup (or more to taste).
- Orange Juice Concentrate 1 can
- Lime Juice Concentrate 1/2 – 1 can. I typically use one can but it can be tart so if you’re going to use club soda or seltzer water go with a half can first and add more till your satisfied. You can also omit this and add fresh squeezed juice. DO NOT go for the bottled lemon/lime juices as that will totally muck up the flavor of your sangria.
- Club Soda, Seltzer Water, Lemon/Lime Soda like 7UP or Sprite
Fruit: Lemons, Limes, Oranges (sliced thin). You can also add in peaches, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, pears, or apples. I personally like to make it with all of these fruit. A great “quick” way to add fruit is to use frozen variety you can purchase at your grocer.
In a large pitcher stir together the wine, rum or brandy, orange, and lime juice concentrates. Add the fruit slices. Stir until well blended.
The sangria may be prepared up to this point a day ahead and kept covered and chilled.
Just before serving, stir in the club soda or a lemon lime soda. Keep a wooden spoon handy to fish out the fruit for guests who would like more in their glass.
For a slightly different variation add in pomegranate juice or a flavored rum.3
