I know I’ve been absent and negligent with regards to my posting these past few weeks. Life has gotten in the way of my blogging. I’ve been working on a personal project that is if I’m perfectly honest taking up most of my writing time. That’s one reason why I haven’t posted, the other is that I really haven’t had much to say. I know, strange right? I enjoy blogging (probably a little to much) and I’m going to continue to do it as much and for as long as feels right.
I know I’ve mentioned my “personal” project, I guess my saying that is stupid and irritating to you my much appreciated readers. I suppose it would be better for me just to come on out with it.
I’m writing a novel. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing. I began last October, and I’ve written to date a total of 5,364 words, which isn’t that much, but I haven’t written everyday as I should, and I up until last week was editing myself way to much which really slowed me down, and as I now realize was sapping my creativity. It was and is important for me to “know” my characters, know them like I know my best friend, the reason behind this desire is that if I feel I know them, then I’ll be able to write about it in a way that is real, even if the story is fictional.
I’ve spent a lot of time creating them, and seeing them in my mind. In the last four months I’ve also managed to loose a notebook with many of my notes, and a jaz drive that had some other stuff in it. Which although it bugged me immeasurably I have been able to work around.
As I said earlier, I’ve always dreamed of writing the “great American novel”, I can’t say that this is the one, but I feel passionate about it and for now that is enough.
From now on, if you find me absent, I hope that it is because I’m spending every minute of my free time writing. I pray that my muse doesn’t abandon me for someone more worthy and so will continue to diligently put down what I see in my mind’s eye onto paper, which is easier said than done.0
